CERFing and Visiting

First stop for an 8:00 am appointment, Mission Med Vet. Dr. Susan Keil and her staff got all the puppies (and Syd and Hawk) examined before dilating the eyes, then drops in the eyes twice, then the full exam. Whew, it was quite the job. Biscuit was quite the character. He let everyone within a 5 mile radius of the clinic know that he was being tortured. In reality, he was sitting on someone's lap, getting scritches and hugs, but the bright light in his eyes was NOT his idea of fun, so he let the world hear him. After his exam was over, he was instantly kissing and wagging the tech and Dr. Keil, but he had a point to make, after all!

All the puppies CERFd with healthy eyes, so that was a good morning. I practically have carpal tunnel from filling out each of the CERF forms, but I'll probably survive that too.

Since the specialty clinic is only about 10 minutes from my office, I thought several of my co-workers might want to see the babies in person. I seriously underestimated the amount of interest, and we did not have enough puppies to go around! The puppies even participated in a group photo shoot for a co-worker who is moving to work at one of our affiliate hospitals to run our IT project. It was a great experience for the puppies to adventure to the office and meet more humans than they have ever seen before!

By the time we got home, the puppies were well-rested from their nap on the 45 minute drive home, and I was ready for a nap! I'm so glad I took the day off of work yesterday. However, putting puppies in the outside pen to splash around in slush and ice makes for very-tired-puppies (see Brindle Girl 2 above!). By 1:30 pm, we were ALL napping!

And, as a funny puppy moment, last night I let Breezy's girls out in the living room with the rest of the dogs and Breezy. The pups all clamored over to nurse, and Breezy is happy to oblige, but she prefers standing. Breezy has always been the "Popular Girl" in the family, if another dog has a toy or bone, Bree can come over, lean to the side, fold her ears back, and bat her lashes. It works every time, the other dog lets her take the bone or toy. Well, last night, Uncle Giz picked up a bone, and Bree was on auto pilot, running over right away, smiling sweetly and coercing Uncle to give up the Nylabone. What Breezy didn't factor in was the fact that she had her puppies attached. That didn't stop her, she ran right over, puppies running alongside, and they never skipped a beat. I guess Breezy is a multi-tasking, power mom!

Thank you for the chuckle. I can just picture Breezy with her attachments. Funny doggies!

Your co-workers must have been ecstatic -- a boatload of puppies coming in to brighten their day! I'm glad the eyes looked good. That's always a relief.

How nice you can cerf an entire litter. I tried to get the last one done before they all went to their homes. I was told people have to call 4 months before the litter is born to get an avail appt for when they were 8 wks old? Seriously! The joys of living in the big city...
