Bird's Eye View
They grow in the blink of an eye. The brindle dog (referred to as Double Whopper with Cheese) is almost 2 pounds, and the littlest girl is hanging in there and gains slowly but steadily. She's 18 oz now, and the others are somewhere in between. Overhead photos show how fast they have expanded to take up most of their puppy box!
Photos start June 9 and go through today, June 17.

Happy Little(r) Family
Sydney's little family is still doing well, although it's a little bit smaller. Two puppies were lost in the first 24 hours. A very sad time for us. :-( The little girl who was a bit cyanotic and had labored breathing right from the start, and unexpectedly, the tiny little red dog. The little girl was a fighter, and I thought she was improving a bit, but obviously not. The little red dog seemed OK but small and more alien than dog-looking. But he just slipped away from one minute to the next, and he didn't want to come back. So the family stands at five babies, 3 girls, 2 boys. One of the girls is not as vigorous as the rest, but she is growing and I hope for the best. Syd continues to be a good mother, although I am supplementing because she doesn't produce a ton of milk, and she was very calcium depleted.
A proud Mama Syd with her babies.
Siblings hanging out together on the heating pad (Friday).
Snoozing together in the soft bed (not the Brindle Boy, no pink bed for him, thankyouverymuch) (Saturday)Maybe some little boys shouldn't overdo it at the breakfast buffet (Sunday).

Got A/C?
The weather is getting warmer and more humid, and momma Syd must be needing some extra cooling these days. Finding her parked with as much of herself over the A/C vent as possible is not unusual.
Don't worry, Syd, nobody else needs air conditioning.

Another HurriKane Herder-Avery!
Avery had a herding lesson today, and she did really well! I'm so proud that now three of the four Breezy x Smarty puppies have shown potential with herding. Olive hasn't been out with the sheepies, but I have a feeling she would have potential too.

Herding Dogs
The Biscuit has been going to herding lessons. This is a video of yesterday's lesson. He is so intense, I am much more anxious in the pen with him than I am with his momma Syd. But Biscuit is pretty sure that he's an expert in sheep intimidation, and the sheep pretty much believe him.
Also, Kitty (formerly Phoebe of Breezy's litter) is here visiting for a while. Today she went with us to see some sheep. This was her first try at a herding lesson, and I think she enjoyed herself!
